Introduction

Smart Translator ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our translation, notes, to-do list, camera, and related features.


Information we collect

• Text you translate: Source and translated text may be sent to translation and dictionary services to provide the feature. We do not use this content for advertising or profiling.


• Voice input: Speech is processed on-device or via platform services for speech-to-text. We do not store or share voice recordings.


• Images: If you take a photo, the app uses the Camera permission. If you choose an existing photo or screenshot, the app uses the Android Photo Picker (or the iOS system picker). We do not access your full photo or video library, and we do not use READ_MEDIA_IMAGES or READ_MEDIA_VIDEO. Selected images are processed on-device (OCR) and extracted text may be sent for translation. Images are not stored on our servers.


• Documents: Files such as PDFs are chosen with the system file picker. We do not request storage or media-library permission to open documents.


• Local data: Translation history, notes, and to-do lists are stored only on your device (local database and preferences). We do not upload this data to our servers.


• Advertising and analytics: The free version may show ads served by Google AdMob. Ad providers may collect device identifiers (including advertising ID), IP address, and other data described in their policies. We use Google Firebase Analytics for aggregated usage (for example, which screens are opened) to improve the app. We use Cloud Firestore only for app configuration such as ad settings, not to store your translations, photos, or notes.


• Purchases: Premium purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive your full payment card details.


How we use your information

We use the information to:


• Provide translation, dictionary, speech, and OCR features • Save your history, notes, and tasks locally on your device • Remember your language preferences and app settings • Show ads in the free version and measure ad performance • Understand aggregated app usage and improve stability • Provide in-app purchases


Third-party services

The app uses third-party services, including:


• Translation and dictionary APIs, which receive the text you submit for translation or lookup • Google AdMob, which serves ads and may collect advertising identifiers and related device data • Google Firebase (Analytics and Firestore) for usage analytics and remote app configuration • Google Play Billing or Apple In-App Purchase for premium unlocks


Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies, including Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). We do not sell your personal data to third parties.


Data storage and security

Your translation history, notes, and to-do list are stored locally on your device. You can clear history or delete data from within the app. We do not store your translations, photos, voice recordings, or notes on our servers. Advertising and analytics data may be processed by Google as described in Google’s Privacy Policy.


Permissions

We may request these permissions:


• Microphone: Voice input and speech-to-text • Camera: Taking a photo for on-device OCR and translation • Display over other apps: Optional, for overlay translation on Android • Internet: Translation, ads, analytics, and updates


We do not request photo-library, video, or broad storage permissions. Gallery images are selected with the system photo picker. Documents are selected with the system file picker.


You can revoke permissions in your device settings at any time.


Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. The free version may show ads. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.


Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
